Carpet Shop Insurance

Retail shop insurance designed for your business

Need carpet shop insurance for your retail business?

Finding the right carpet shop insurance for you and for your business is more complicated than choosing the lowest premiums.

Most experts would advise considering the policies offered by a wide range of insurers, and comparing them to the actual risks your business faces.

If you would like to discuss your business situation with Real Insurance Brokers, as well as what types of carpet shop insurance cover would best address them, we’d love to hear from you!

What is Carpet Shop Insurance?

Carpet shops face most of the same risks that other small businesses do, but also their own set of unique challenges.

Specialised carpet shop insurance can protect against property damage to your premises or stock, from liability due to mistakes made by your installers, or even injury to your own employees.

Most carpet shop insurance policies will provide a fairly comprehensive set of protections designed to ‘cover all of your bases’ fairly well.

What does a carpet shop policy provide?

That depends on the exact policy you choose, and the insurer. However, a ‘typical’ carpet shop insurance policy might include:

  • Material Damage and / or Property Cover – This might protect your premises, your in-store stock, or any stock on your delivery vehicles should something happen there. Business losses may also be covered, depending on the exact wording of the policy.
  • Business Interruption Cover – This can protect the business against a reduction in the amount of business you do as a result of a material damage claim.
  • Combined Liability Cover – This might include protections against employer’s liability, product liability or even public liability, should anyone become injured or experience loss through your shop’s actions.

There are certain minimum requirements under the current law. You are almost certainly required to carry some form of qualifying employers liability cover, for the protection of your employees if nothing else.

In addition, if you rent or lease your premises or have a mortgage, you might be required by those terms to insure the building, its contents, or some or all of your equipment.
